Properly Layered

The living room benefits from the polish of E. Dale Trice's design by being comfortably layered, even though the end result has a peaceful effect. A flanged edge on the cushion introduces blue as an accent color. A burlap-covered pendant light hangs over the improvised window seat, filling in the empty vertical space.

Pattern Play

To create a striking focal point in the kitchen, Trice took samples of the wall color to the tile manufacturer, who created a basket-weave pattern out of chocolate, moss, and ivory tiles.

Dressmaker Details

Anna Hancy of Design Services of Florida designed the coverlet in the carriage house, which has a gathered skirt attached to a central panel several inches in from the edge of the bed. The skirt reaches to the floor, eliminating the need for a bed skirt.

Nautical Details

A dolphin-shaped boat cleat attaches the ropes of the daybed swing on the front porch, providing a charming reward for the observant visitor. The highly textured barkcloth fabric on the cushions speaks of a bygone era of Old Florida style.
