Simple Entrance With Style

If you don't have a front porch, there are some great ways to add character to your home's entryway. This Tudor-style home in West Virginia is a perfect example. A gable features decorative half-timbering, and its design draws the eye to the front door. The door, with its heavy boards and rustic hardware, stays true to the Tudor look.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
