white poinsettia wreath

Photo: Ralph Anderson

Silver foliage and white poinsettias create a frosty appearance in this untraditional wreath. To begin, soak a florist foam circle in water and cut-flower food. After darining, cover the form with Spanish moss, and secure it with monofilament line. Add greenery in short pieces, placing some elaeagnus sprigs backward, exposing the leaves' gray underside.

Skip the bow, and use a poinsettia or two for an unexpected wow. Cut a blossom 2 inches below the petals, and then immediately pass the stem over a flame. Add it to the wreath, pushing the cut end deep into the florist foam for adequate moisture.
