Old Glass, New Look
Photo: Meg McKinney Simle
When his grandmother passed away, this homeowner inherited a giant armoire filled with a prized collection of antique milk glass. The azure hues, smooth curves, and intricate glassy designs fascinated him, so he and his wife designed the decor of their living and dining rooms around the collection. They hung various milk-glass plates in groupings on the walls and placed containers and other pieces on the mantel and tables.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
