Two-Story Living

Daylight pours in this two-story living room through tall windows and a dormer in the sloped ceiling. A staircase leads to the second floor with a master suite. To unify old and new, the owners designed architectural details based on elements in the original house. They fashioned trim around doors and windows and added some board-and-batten wainscoting from Douglas fir in a warm, reddish tone that cozies up the living room.
