Storage with style
Built-in Shaker-style cabinetry was added to the living and dining areas of this 100-year-old Seattle home. The new cabinetry
flanks the living-room fireplace and wraps around a window seat in the dining room. Tucked between the kitchen and dining
room is a 4-foot-wide desk that hides clutter behind butterfly doors. Design: Kevin Price, JAS Design Build, Seattle (www.jasdesignbuild.com or 206/547-6242). Color work: Kim Clements, JAS Design Build, Seattle (www.jasdesignbuild.com or 206/547-6242).

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
