It is amazing what a difference lighting can make in a room. Here, an existing ceiling fan was replaced with a triple pendant
fixture. In addition, old fluorescent undercounter lights were updated with inexpensive halogen units that came in a kit from
a home-improvement store. Now work surfaces are better illuminated, and the kitchen feels much brighter. » see room

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel.
