The Heart of the Home
Building a new space is sometimes the smartest solution to make a house fit your needs. Here a husband and wife took a 9-
x 14-foot 1950s kitchen and rebuilt it to gain more light, space, and organization for their growing family. Keeping the cabinets
white, adding plenty of windows, and combining white appliances with stainless steel provide a light-filled, appealing space.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
