Compact Home Office

Adding shelving constructed of medium density fiberboard and a laminate desk that runs the length of the closet converted this hall closet into a practical and colorful workspace. Electricity and a telephone line were necessities for proper lighting and computer use. Electrical cords are tucked through a hole in the work surface. Below the desk, more shelves were added. When the closet's not in use, the chair goes into an adjoining bedroom.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
