Anchors Away

Nautical details and an all-American palette inject schooner style into the guest suite. An ebony four-poster bed dressed in handsome stripes anchors the room. For the window treatments, the designer found a sailboat print reminiscent of architectural renderings. Over the headboard, she grouped sepia-toned yachting photographs. And bedside, a painting by a local artist showcases dories heading out to sea.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
