Masonry Pavers, A Classic Twist
Protruding onto the front porch as a welcome gesture to guests, the front entry alcove is set apart by its richly stained mahogany front door. Also of interest is the brick floor. It's made from the same masonry pavers that compose the entry walk and driveway, and it seamlessly blends the foyer, dining room, and hallway. In the foyer, the brick flooring leads to an elegant staircase with flared bottom steps. Of equal beauty, a 6-foot-high wainscot dresses the foyer walls and continues into the entry hall, which is crowned with a barrel-vaulted ceiling.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
