Serviceable Sideboard
This young couple stores stemware in style with this sleek, easy-to-make skirted table. With economy as a priority, they designed a practical plywood shelf and dressed it up with fabric that is as elegant as premium wood furniture but costs considerably less. After drawing up a few quick sketches, taking a trip to a local cabinetmaker, and visiting the upholsterer, the result was a $400 side table with $4,000 appeal.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
