Ageless Dining Area
Lisa Romerein
A 1960s light fixture found on eBay (see enlarged image) (www.ebay.com) keeps the dining area of this Venice, California bungalow
from feeling fussy. Wallpaper with a chinoiserie pattern is framed with black molding and hung against a more somber gray
wall. Louis XV reproduction chairs echo the baroque mood, but are upholstered in black faux-ostrich hide for a contemporary
feel. The Burke tulip table adds lightness to the mix.

Outdoor Paradise
Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
