Make awkward angles work to your advantage. The designer softened the sloping ceiling of this bedroom with a canopy of shirred fabric. Plenty of ruffles and a petticoat-style bedskirt are requisites for pampering any young princess.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today.
