Cozy, Warm Bungalow
Laurey W. Glenn
This circa-1928 bungalow in Bethesda, Maryland got an asian-contemporary update while the renovations remained true to the original fee of the house. Updated with primarily recyclable and sustainable products, the roof was raised, windows were replaces, and the columns in the front were replaced with mahogany-clad posts.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
