The California pepper tree's bright red berries are perfect for a wreath over a mantel. Make with a 21-inch floral foam ring as the base; knot one end of a roll of medium-gauge fishing line onto the ring. Gather small bouquets of pepper berries (you'll need 10 bunches), secure with florist's wire and pin down, starting at the top front of the ring. Wrap the fishing line around the foam and berry stems. Continue until the ring is covered. Add a final golden touch with a bow of gold cord and gold faux berries; secure with wire or fishing line.
