High Style, Low Price

When she began updating her first home, this homeowner found furniture and accessories at garage sales, flea markets, and outlet stores. She paired the bargain finds with high-end partners to get the look she wanted. This kitchen suffered from a lack of counter space. It had upper cabinets, but no lower ones with counters. She solved the problem by substituting furniture for lower cabinets. She found this table, a dark Victorian piece, in her garage, and painted it a creamy yellow color to blend in with the overhead cabinets.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today. The screened porch section measures 8 x 12 feet; exposed beams on the inside give it an open feel. To the left, an enclosed room that's used for storing outdoor equipment takes up another eight feet. - Integrated Cabinets
