Ideas for Windows

Simplicity is one attribute of a Roman shade. Its crisp, tailored appearance can be adapted to any window, regardless of its location. In the master bedroom of this home, the placement of the window limited the choices. Like many bedroom windows, it hugs a corner, leaving no room on the right for a panel, which would block out natural light. The only choice was a top treatment, but the homeowner didn't want a typical valance.

The secret to a custom look is a shade that is made to fit the window's measurements, either on the outside of the molding or on the inside. This shade was hung just below the crown molding--higher than the window casing--to add height to the room. Wood blinds allow light levels to be adjusted.
