To augment the Anglo-Caribbean design, the architect raised the porches and ceilings, adding the all-important transoms, so the residents would have a spectacular view of the ocean from the moment they stepped through the main entry doors.

Who says the back porch has to be attached to the house? One Memphis family enjoys theirs, which is nestled in the heart of the back yard. Although the structure was part of the property when the family bought the home several years ago, its size and scale seem ideal for today.
