Ironically, when homeowner Carolyn McCord designed this courtyard garden, she was inspired by, you guessed it, English gardens.
In Sunset magazine, she says she wanted "a landscape that had the dense planting and controlled chaos of an English cottage garden,
but with water-conserving desert plants."
