With coastal-chic interiors and a breeze-catching floor plan, our new showhouse celebrates the simple elegance of a seaside escape. Come along for a room-by-room tour packed with great design ideas.

You can experiment with a simple color combo to create visual interest. Designer Phillip Sides used a blue-and-white palette throughout the house, reinterpreting the look in every room. The living room sports a cool collection of blues and creams.

If you want lots of storage and natural light, this may be the perfect solution. At left, open shelves set in a bank of windows hold dishes and glassware without compromising the view. Beaded-board accents and white countertops round out the sunny space.

You don't need a framed four-poster bed to enjoy a cocoonlike haven. Setting the headboard within a shallow, draped baldachin, Sides created "the sense of a canopy without the enclosure." Silver accents and floral damask add a feminine touch.

Blend the best of old and new in your bath using vintage accents and a modern layout. Sides bridged the decades in this appealing space with an old-fashioned black and white tile floor, nickel-finish fixtures, and a contemporary side-by-side vanity.

This room illustrates a straight-ahead take on balanced design. You can re-create the look in your guest room by placing matched furnishings in a mirrored arrangement. Sides used shell prints and a wave-motif ottoman to echo the oceanfront vibe.
