Let the games begin! When the children arrive and are ready for fun, fill the evening with Halloween-inspired games and activities that are sure to be a hit.

Try all of these ideas at your backyard Halloween party. They are easy to put together, as well as easy on the wallet.

Beanbag Toss

Clear out a space in the yard for an old-fashioned beanbag toss. Everything -- from the wooden jack-o'-lantern cutout to the Halloween beanbags -- is homemade. And if the large pumpkin doesn't fit in with your party decor, try another simple shape, such as a ghost or a witch.

Piñata Party

Swing away! Let the children take turns trying to burst the swinging decoration filled with plenty of candy for all. Look for Halloween piñatas at crafts and party stores, such as Party City.

Tip: To avoid injuries, allow smaller children to swing at the piñata without wearing a blindfold.

Trick-or-Treat Buckets

After smasking the piñata, let the kids decorate buckets to stash their candy in. Provide stickers, markers, and paint for the project. Then keep these candy buckets for them to use year after year.

Bobbing for Apples

This may be the easiest game of all for you to assemble. All you need is a galvanized bucket, water, and apples. And have towels on hand -- some of the more determined little ones may decide to go for a dunk!
