12 Easy Wreaths for Christmas

Grapevine Wreath

• Store-bought (premade) grapevine wreath
• Apples
• Florist picks with wire
• Berries on the stem (bittersweet, holly berry, catoni aster or pepper berry)

5 Minute Wreath

What To Do:

Grapevine wreaths are pretty as is but can be really unique with a few embellishments. Here, we tied bittersweet stems to the wreath and nestled in three apples (secured with florist picks and wire) to complement the colors of the bittersweet. Feel free to use your imagination to make a wreath to suit your tastes.

This can be done in less than five minutes, and the results are so pretty guests will think it took much longer.

Sweet Cinnamon

• 12-inch wooden wreath ring
• 6-inch cinnamon sticks
• Glue gun and glue sticks
• Burlap ribbon

Holiday Spice

Using a glue gun, secure the cinnamon sticks to the wooden frame. Work your way around the base gluing and layering the sticks on top of one another. Aim for two to three layers of cinnamon sticks all around the wreath to fill it out.

Tips:
Use a small bowl or cup in the center of the wreath form as your guide to keep the edges of the cinnamon sticks even as you glue them to the frame.

Pick through the cinnamon sticks and save the thinnest ones to use at the end to fill in any gaps.

Sticks and Straws

• 12-inch straw wreath
• Packing straw
• Curly willow branches
• Cranberries
• Polished hemp or fishing line
• Florist pins
• 1-inch velvet ribbon

Prairie Chic

What To Do:
Using florist pins, cover the wreath form with packing straw. Wrap a strand of cranberries around the wreath. Attach the curly willow branches through the velvet bow on top of the wreath. If you prefer, you can add more branches and use the florist pins to secure them to the back of the wreath.

Tip: To maintain the rustic look of the wreath, we loosely covered the straw wreath with the packing straw and hung it on hemp twine.

Give Peace A Chance

• 24-inch peace sign wreath form
• Plastic foam cut to fit form
• Thin florist tape
• Lime green and hot pink reindeer moss
• Florist pins

Gathers No Moss

What To Do:
Trace peace sign wreath with a marker onto plastic foam. Then cut with a sharp knife or hand saw, and tape plastic foam onto the frame.

Next, using the florist pins to secure, cover all of the plastic foam with lime green moss. Once it’s covered with green, fill in the upside down “Y” shape in the peace sign with the hot pink reindeer moss.

Magnolia Wreath

• Store-bought (premade) magnolia wreath
• Various citrus fruits (lemons, limes, clementines, oranges, and kumquats)
• Thin velvet or satin ribbon
• Upholstery tacks
• Florist picks with wire

Adorned Fruit

What To Do:
Each piece of citrus was wrapped in a contrasting color of velvet ribbon. Use upholstery tacks to both pin the ribbon in place and decorate the fruit.

After you have secured the ribbons to the individual pieces of fruit, pierce each piece with a florist pick to attach to the wreath.

Living Wreath

• 20-inch living wreath ring
• Florist pins
• Sphagnum moss
• Potting soil
• 9 hen and chicks succulents
• Purple Johnny-jump-ups Ivy

Go Green

What To Do:
Turn the live wreath frame so the curved side is down facing your work surface. Cut the sphagnum moss with scissors into 6- x 16-inch strips. Line the wreath form with the moss strips, overlapping each one about ¼ inch. Then fill with potting soil to the top. Fold over moss strips and secure, with florist pins.

Reattach the back of the wreath frame, and turn it over. To plant the succulents and flowers, cut slits in the moss. Pull apart moss, and remove some potting soil if you need to. Loosen up the plant root and remove excess dirt. Plant it, cover with moss, and secure with florist pins. You may also want to get extra moss to use to cover the wired wreath form until your plants fill it in.

Tip: Don't forget to cover visible parts of the frame with extra moss. To water your wreath, remove it from wherever it is hanging. Water as needed with a spray bottle. Rehang after it has drained.

Jack Frost

• 20-inch snowflake wreath form
• Florist plastic foam cut to fit form
• Thin florist tape
• Spanish moss
• Silver/platinum florist spray paint
• Silver sequin-covered plastic foam balls (available at crafts stores)
• Long corsage pins

All That Glitters

What To Do:
With a marker, trace the snowflake wreath form onto the plastic foam. Cut it out with a sharp knife or small saw. Using the florist tape, attach the cut-out plastic foam snowflake to the wreath form.

Cover the outside of the wreath with Spanish moss, securing it as you go using florist pins.

Lightly spray the wreath with silver florist spray paint.

Using the corsage pins, pin the sequined plastic foam balls to the wreath.

Boxwood Present Wreaths

• 3 square wreath forms
• Florist wire
• Boxwood clippings
• Ribbon

Pretty Gifts

What To Do:
Choose three different sizes of square wreath forms.

Secure the stems of the boxwood clippings together with florist wire to form bundles. Make sure your bundles are thick enough to cover wreath form and similar sizes.

Start in one corner of wreath and attach the bundles to the frame with wire. Make sure the bundles all are attached in the same direction so the wreath will have a uniform look.

Tie a ribbon on top.

Rosemary Rectangle Picture Wreath

• Rectangle wreath form
• Florist wire
• Fresh rosemary
• Framed Christmas photo

Frame Up

What To Do:
Choose the size of a rectangle that will surround your favorite framed Christmas photo. Allow at least a 1½ inches on all sides to float the picture.

Cut rosemary tops for the individual bundles as you go, and wrap with wire. Trim and secure the bundles to the wreath form with wire. Make sure your bundles are thick enough to cover the wreath form.

Start with a corner and make sure the bundles all go in the same direction so the wreath will have a uniform look. Also try to make sure the bundles are close to the same size. Use ribbon to hang the framed photo and rosemary wreath.

Christmas Tree Wreath

• Christmas tree wreath form
• Boxwood
• Florist wire
• Moss for trunk
• Tiny bags for Advent gifts (fill bags with candy, small jewelry, sweet notes, or money)
• Adhesive numbers
• Ribbon

Advent Wreath

What To Do:
Cut boxwood tops for the individual bunches. Secure the stems of the boxwood clippings together with florist wire to form bundles. Make sure your bundles are thick enough to cover wreath form and similar sizes. Attach the bundles to the wreath form using the wire.

Start with the bottom tips of the tree, and make sure the bundles all face one direction so the wreath will have a uniform look. Also try to make sure the bundles are close to the same size. Cover the "trunk" with either boxwood or moss, and secure with wire and/or floral pins.

Tie the tiny gift bags to the wreath using the drawstring on the bags. Be sure to tie them so that the numbers are visible.

Away in a Manger

Nativity Scene

Use thick ribbon to tie a bow on top and hang.

Nutcracker's Dream

• 18-inch urethane wreath
• Glue gun
• Assorted nuts in shells (enough to cover the wreath)
• Ribbon

Hard Shell, High Style

Repeat until the whole wreath is covered. Go back and fill in any sparse spots with nuts. Once finished gluing, let the wreath sit for 30 minutes to allow the glue to set.

Using thick ribbon, tie a bow on top and hang.
