Put to the Test: Green Cleaning Products
Eco-friendly products are readily available in stores nationwide, but are they worth all the hype? We tested 25 popular green cleaning products--from detergents to toothpaste--to find out which ones worked well and which ones we’d rather leave on the shelf.
Natural Dishwashing Detergent
Why it’s green: The product is phosphate- and chlorine-free. The package says it reduces the risk of harm to lakes and ponds and keeps chlorine’s dangers out of the environment. It’s also not tested on animals and contains no animal ingredients.
What we thought: “It has a nice, fresh lemon scent. I was surprised at how well it cleaned the dishes. The only major difference I noticed
is that it didn’t seem to have any sort of drying agent.”
