According to Dr. Lee, it is often the essential oils in these cleansers that cause the most damage. “Even the ones that say ‘pet friendly’ aren’t necessarily pet friendly, so you have to use your judgment carefully,” she says. Watch out for products that contain concentrated essential oils—especially those that boast citrus fruits as one of their main ingredients.
