What Makes It Work

The thing that keeps this kitchen from looking "ditsy," a term used by a photographer I know when referring to things that are too cute, is the use of industrial elements. They add an edge. The chemistry-lab barstools, the streetlights hanging over the bar, and the marble-tiled backsplash all work to evoke a more complex atmosphere.
