Admittedly, it would have to be a pretty sophisticated kid to live in this room, but I'd like to think my discerning 12-year-old would love it. The room is from Southern Accents 2004 showhouse at WaterSound Beach, designed by Suzanne Kasler. She envisioned a room with subtle nautical elements and a summer camp demeanor.
The horizontally hung paneling is finished with a glossy stain to look like yacht fittings, and the bunks attach to the walls with boat cleats. Swing-arm lamps, installed high on the ceiling, spill the perfect amount of light for reading in bed.
A glass fronted cabinet provides storage for clothes and nautical decorations.
