A white glider on a porch.

What Makes It Work

The double whammy here is that this outdoor room has a blue-and-white palette plus a glider! There was a glider on my grandmother's porch, and for a while I owned one too. It took me back to childhood every time I sat in it. And I do love the life preserver hung over the glider. It's always nice to have artwork over the sofa, but it's difficult to find something durable for outdoors. The life preserver has a great shape and provides just the right nautical note.
