Why We Love It

I have puzzled and puzzled over the perennial appeal of blue and white. What I've decided is that it's easy and fresh on the eyes, and, more subtly, that it evokes some nostalgia in us of a past that was predictable and safe. I cannot recall either of my grandparents' houses having a single blue-and-white room, but when I look at this picture from Coastal Living magazine I think of them for some reason. Maybe it's because this space has such a classic feeling, with old-fashioned rattan and wicker furniture and crisp blue-striped cushions.
