Inspiration Board: It’s the Little Things That Make a House a Home

We draw inspiration from design bloggers. Where do they draw their inspiration from? We asked Karla Swoveland from It’s the Little Things That Make a House a Home a few questions and from her answers, imagined what an inspiration board in her house might look like.

MHI: The sounds that fill my home are… KS: The sounds of my three children! They are 8, 6, and 4 years old. They laugh and play, and fight and cry (as all siblings do) and they make our house come alive! And on any given day you can hear music. Singing and dancing happen quite often around here! Karla’s noisemakers children, William, Owen, and Ellison all have rooms to die for. See how she painted a sweet pink scalloped pattern in her little girls’ room here, and her son’s awesome fort bed here.

MHI: The scent that fills my home is… KS: Currently I am loving a scent called “Lemongrass Eucalyptus” from Target. You can buy it in a soy candle, or a reed diffuser. It is fresh and clean and I love how it makes our home smell! This scented little light glows inside the Swoveland’s home. See how Karla used a set of old Christmas lights to make her back patio glow gorgeously, here. And don’t miss their unreal view of Mount Rainier. Spectacular!
