Welcome Home

Replacing your front door (or even changing out the hardware) is a fairly inexpensive way to give your home’s exterior an updated look without completely remodeling. This front entry makes me want to walk right into this house!

Let It Rain

I’m always looking for ways to mask eyesores on our home’s exterior. With Rain Chains, you simply use them in place of a downspout on your existing gutter system. They’re functional and definitely more appealing than the average drainage system.

Sleek Storage

The garage is a room that quickly can become a catchall in the home (I know it is in ours). Keep it organized by installing cabinets and shelves. With storage off of the floor, you have more room, and the space is easier to clean.

Good Things in Small Drivers

When I see this tool, I immediately want to put something together. It’s small, cordless, and the head is adjustable so that you can use it for most any project. My husband’s to-do list just got a little shorter.

The Very Safest Paint

When you’re painting your home’s interior, it’s important to use paint that doesn’t release harmful pollutants and is safe to use around people and pets. This new product is unique because it’s the only paint on the market that’s zero-VOC and zero-toxin.

A Little Extra Space

I’ve never heard a homeowner complain of having too much space -- it’s usually quite the opposite. By adding a pre-built storage shed to your backyard, you gain that extra room without a major home renovation.

A Place to Gather

No matter where you plan to entertain in your home, everyone always seems to migrate to the kitchen. Give your guests plenty of room to gather with suspended seating.

I find this simple innovation really nice because the design makes it easier to clean around the area, and there’s no need to move chairs in and out (possibly scratching floors).

Take It Outside

When the weather warms up, there’s nothing better than lighting the grill, opening an ice-cold beverage, and hosting a cookout on the patio. This picnic table is ideal for families with children because it will withstand the elements, it’s stain resistant, and the material won’t split, chip, or peel.

A Showerhead to Sing About

As a homeowner, I try to find ways to be more energy efficient and save on utility bills. Conserving water is one easy way to save money, and this new showerhead will reduce water usage by 40%. And don’t worry, you won’t sacrifice water pressure in the process.

Design Like a Pro

Building or renovating a home can be an overwhelming experience. To make it easier, you definitely need to keep an eye out for this new software, available through builders and Rubbermaid dealers.

It will allow you to design storage spaces for your home, right down to the flooring and wall colors. And because cost is always an issue, it also gives you every financial detail, from the parts list to the pricing.

Ways to Say I Love You

While I like flowers and sweet cards for Valentine’s Day, this would be the equivalent for my husband. It’s for the do-it-yourselfer who takes on more demanding jobs, and it delivers 800 inch-pounds of torque, plus plenty of muscle for self-tapping screws, Tapcons, nuts, and bolts.

Home Safety

I thought that the only thing I could control from the car was a garage door, but Lutron proved me wrong. This new product can definitely increase personal safety by allowing you to turn your home’s lights on and off -- and even dim them -- from up to 100 feet away. And the controller can sit right next to your garage door opener on the visor.

Bathroom Spruce Up

One of the quickest, easiest ways to give your bathroom an updated look is by changing out the hardware. Animal prints are big in design trends, and this is a perfect way to incorporate the style without going overboard.

Another Look

Tired of discussing what goes in a shared bath? This type of upgrade is just right for the his-and-hers bathroom. The sleek lines and finish will please the misses, while the touch of leather will suit the mister.

Fence It In

If you have children, pets, or both, a fenced-in backyard is almost a necessity. It provides safety and security, while adding privacy to your home.

This new fencing system is made of steel-reinforced panels, making it sturdier. And a durable plastic is used on the outside (instead of vinyl), so it won’t crack or shatter, making it a better investment over time.

Something to Flush Over

Toilets aren’t the most glamorous home buy, but they’re something that every home needs. And if you’ve experienced (like I have) a toilet that doesn’t flush properly, you’re in for a massive water bill.

This toilet is the first to reduce water usage by more than 20% without a dual flush, plus it sports the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense label.

Fabulous Furnaces

The trends in home building products this year are all centered around energy efficiency -- and furnaces are no exception. These new high-efficient items all are ENERGY STAR qualified and have Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) ratings that well exceed government standards.

Dim the Lights

Installing dimmers on lights in your home not only gives you endless lighting options, but also saves energy and money. This new version works with incandescent and halogen bulbs, reduces energy usage by 15%, and more than doubles the life of an incandescent bulb. Sounds like a good deal all the way around.

Outdoor Kitchen

I love to take the party outside, and trends in home design show that homeowners are taking the kitchen outside as well. The “outdoor room” has become extremely popular, and if the industry could just figure out a way to build an outdoor bathroom, there would be no reason to go indoors.
